Hudoq Dance from Dayak Tribe - Indonesia

Hudoq Dance. The dance is performed by wearing a wooden mask resembling a beast and also two pieces of banana leaves or coconut leaves which wrap the dancer's body.
This dance has close relation with ritual ceremony from the tribes of Dayak Bahau and Modang. The purpose of Hudoq dance is to obtain strength in overcoming the disturbance of the pests or bad/evil spirit and in a hope of land fertility to produce abundant harvest. 'Sampe' musical instrument from Dayak Tribe - Indonesia

Dayak tribe has various musical instruments, such as plucking instrument, beating instrument and woodwind instrument. In its daily life, music is also important means of communication and praising to the powerful, either the spirits or human being. Besides, these musical instruments were also used for accompanying various dances. Just like in the dance, they also have some forms of rhythm in the music and also certain songs to accompany a dance or certain ceremony. Each has its own uniqueness. Warrior Dance from Dayak Tribe - Indonesia

Kancet Papatai Dance / War Dance. This dance tells about a Dayak Hero, from Dayak Kenyah who fights against his enemy. It describes about the brave men (Ajai) from Dayak Kenyah tribe in war.This dance tells about the beginning of war until the given title ceremony for the Ajai which have succeeded to won the war.
The movement in this dance is very energetic, agile, and full of spirit and sometimes followed by dancers' shouting. In this dance, the dancers wear traditional clothing of Dayak Kenyah tribe, along with war equipments such as mandau (Dayak sword), shield and armor.
